Your Opportunity:

2018 sees BePure establishing the first lab of its kind in New Zealand, located in the sunny Hawkes Bay.

The Chemist will play a key role in the day to day running of the lab, starting with the setup, and progressing to focus on the continual development of new testing methods as our laboratory offering advances.

Job Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

• Become the expert in our lab methods, to a point where training and guidance of [a] Lab Assistant/s can be achieved. 

• Preparation of standards.

• Extraction and cleanup of samples.

• Qualitative and quantitative analysis of samples by LC-MS and GC-MS, reviewing data and preparing reports.

• Development of new analytical methods, as well as optimisation and modification of existing methods.

• Leadership

  of a Lab Assistant and contribution towards recruitment as the BePure laboratory grows and expands.

Skills and Experience You'll Need:

• 8-10 years experience with LC-MS and/or GC-MS analysis in a pathology laboratory or a commercial environmental laboratory, and the ability to learn if unfamiliar with one of the instruments. 

• The ability to develop and optimise methods. 

• Knowledge and ability to extract and clean up complex samples.

• Bachelor Degree in Science (Chemistry)

• Impeccable communication skills; written and spoken.  

• A genuine enjoyment of working with others towards a common mission. 

• A drive to make a difference with your work, using your skills to solve real-world problems.
